My favorite of the wines I tasted was the 2024 Almanua F, a blend of 85% Arinto and 15% Alvarinho, where F, stands for foudre, as it fermented in a foudre and then matured in it until bottling in February 2025, during which time it went through 100% malolactic. It still kept a pH of 3.4 and six grams of acidity. The foudre was new, but surprisingly enough, the wine is not oaky; it's nuanced, austere and serious, with nice volume; it has something savory about it, herbal and peppery, with 13% alcohol and great balance, complex and nuanced, vibrant and fresh, with a long, dry finish. Arinto can provide this texture and mouthfeel that I like so much. A great debut! 3,500 bottles produced. I believe this is going to develop nicely. even though it's already approachable.

Tom's Tasting Note: A medium gold core.  The pronounced nose show notes of really nice reduction, with salinity, mixed citrus and white orchard fruits, some subtle savory and peppercorn spice, a touch of smokey minerals haunts the aromas.  The palate is medium bodied, with med/med+ acidity, very good pronounced flavory density and persistence, tightly layered but still very nuanced.  Finishes long, fresh, salty and spicy.  Excellent! F, stands for foudre, as it fermented in a foudre and then matured in it for 6 months going through 100% malolactic.

Wine Makers: Manuel & Luís Cerdeira
Appellation: Monçao e Melgaço, Portugal
Grapes: 85% Arinto, 15% Alvarinho
Soil: Granite with above-average clay content. This unique soil adds structure and complexity to the wine, balancing the acidity of the grapes.
Vine Age: 25 years Harvest Dates: September 16, 2024
Fermentation: Full malolactic fermentation followed by aging 5yrs in a 2500L French oak Foudre which helps the wine develop depth and balances acidity.

Vinevinu: Father and son duo unite with a shared vision: to preserve the winemaking tradition of the Minho while incorporating innovation and creativity. Luís Cerdeira has over 30 years of experience with the Alvarinho grape, while his son Manuel brings a contemporary approach, together pushing the limits of winemaking.

Almanua F: Reflects the maritime influence in its essence. Fresh and saline, with depth on the palate. It is a wine for connoisseurs who appreciate details, knowledge and precision in the vinification.
