Our Take: Fragrant and finely etched, this Langhe Nebbiolo opens with bright red cherry, cranberry, and dried rose, layered with hints of orange peel and warm spice. Supple tannins and vibrant acidity give the wine remarkable finesse, leading to a long, savory finish with classic Nebbiolo charm.

Nicola Oberto and Stefania Drocco exude all the enthusiasm and passion of the younger generation in Piedmont. That comes through in wines that are increasingly pedigreed. Two thousand twenty-one was not without its challenges here. Frost wiped out 50% of the production in Rocche dell’Annunziata. As for the wines, they are positively stellar. The Nebbiolo harvest took place from October 6 to 21, on the later side for the year. Readers who have not discovered these wines owe it to themselves to do so. Not only are the wines brilliant, they also remain very fairly priced.

VINEYARD NOTES: "Vinification of grapes mostly coming from La Morra and Levice and a small part from Vicoforte and Monticello d’Alba (Roero) too."

WINEMAKING: Vinification of grapes mostly coming from La Morra and Levice and a small part from Vicoforte and Monticello d’Alba (Roero) too. Alcoholic fermentation happens mostly in concrete and lasts around 10-12 days. Then malolactic takes place in concrete and/or stainless steel and cold stabilization happens outdoor or in conditioned steel tanks. After stabilization, the wine ages for some months in concrete, steel and plastic, before being bottled, usually in April-May of the year after the harvest
