TK Notes: From the old bush vines planted near the railway line in Malmesbury, Treinspoor is made from Tinta Barocca grown on a mix of sandstone, granite, and quartz soils. Fermented gently with 30% whole clusters and aged in 45-year-old foudres, the 2024 vintage reveals graphite and dried fig on the nose, evolving into violets and pencil lead. The structure is firm and densely layered, with tannins that resemble those of Nebbiolo. This is a profound and brooding wine built to reward long-term cellaring.

Producer Notes: This 2024 Treinspoor starts out with some darker graphite and dried fig aromas, transcending into violets and perfumes that transform into pencil lead aromas. It is one of the most lifted versions, and the purple hue also suggests a new definition of Tinta Barocca, or at least for us. The tannins are multi-layered and dense with a firm finish. This is an absolute block of a wine with a lingering forever taste. Please afford this wine time.
