Our Tasting Note: Star bright, light lemon yellow core. This is my kind of sauvignon blanc, it is a bright expression, with fresh and energetic acids in a style reminiscent of a classically styled Sancerre. The pronounced nose is fresh with citrus and green apples, chalky minerality, and a touch of salinity. The medium body is crisp and mouthwatering with the pronounced flavors driven by citrus, green apple, and flinty mineral undertones into the long finish.

Vineyard
Shallow-blue-sea was planted in 2017 by Patrick Reuter and Leigh Bartholomew of Dominio IV. Lovingly farmed in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, the vineyard is rooted in ancient marine sedimentary soils that were deposited beneath shallow seas 20 to 40 million years ago before being uplifted into today's hills by tectonic activity. Patrick and Leigh farm with biodynamic and organic practices.
The 2025 Vintage
A warm and even growing season created good growing conditions throughout the Willamette Valley in 2025. With minimal disease pressure and a concentrated harvest window due to late season heat, the vintage delivered beautifully concentrated and balanced wines, combining expressive aromatics, layered flavors, and fresh natural acidity. Picked on 9/11/25.
Winemaking
A "by the numbers" harvest, aka textbook, picked earlier to retain freshness and acidity. The fruit was crushed and left on skins for two hours. It was then pressed and racked to tank where it spent two days resting without sulfur. This is meant to oxidize any harsh phenolics that may have been pulled out from crushing and pressing. After two days, the juice is lightly sulfured and racked with fine lees to barrel for fermentation and elevage. All of the wine rested in four neutral cigar barrels and a single once-used barrique. Bottled after six months in barrel.
