Drinking Window 2029 - 2044
The 2021 Taurasi Vigna Quintodecimo offers dark and brooding scents of licorice, cocoa and dusty earth that give way to balsamic black raspberries and autumnal spice. This is more feminine in style, with textures of pure silk and cooling acidity to elevate its mineral-infused red berry fruits. A saturation of primary concentration takes hold toward the close. The 2021 is grippy and long with perfumed inner florals, nuances of blood orange and hulking structure. Lose it in the cellar.

The 2021 Taurasis from Quintodecimo are glorious. The vintage’s combination of ripe fruit and structure plays directly into Luigi Moio’s polished, Bordeaux-influenced approach, yielding wines of both power and grace. The 2020 Riserva Grand Cru Luigi Moio is fleshier and more fruit-driven, with sweeter tannins, but it retains excellent balance. Quintodecimo did not produce Taurasi from the difficult 2023 season. Instead, all of the estate’s Aglianico was directed into Terra d’Eclano. The resulting wine lacks the power of Taurasi but rises well above the usual expectations for this bottling. The 2025 whites are also particularly balanced, with excellent acidity. It appears to have been an unusually even growing season, although the reds will provide a fuller picture of the vintage.

Tom's Tasting Note:
Quieter but brooding, opened beautifully with air but this is a wine to age. Deep ruby core, with vibrant ruby edges. The pronounced nose is packed a little tighter than the Cerzito (as per usual with this pair when tasted together) but is very vibrant and fresh, more linear and tightly layered juicy black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, subtle balsamic and toasted baking spices, crushed stones and wild florals. The palate is full bodied, with med+ to high levels of youthful tannins (always shows more structure than Cerzito), the acidity is vibrant and fresh.  The flavors are like the nose concentrated, fresh, but packed tighter and hint at what lies ahed for this incredible wine.  The finish is long, structured and fresh, pretty intense!

The Taurasi Vigna Quintodecimo is a cru of two hectares of Aglianico, obtained from the vineyard of the same name, planted in 2001 on the north-west side of the estate. the soil is made up of expandable clay rocks, very rich in limestone. the vineyard, at 420 meters above sea level with a 25% slope and north/west exposure, is cultivated in counter-espalier with spurred cordon pruning and has a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. Vigna Quintodecimo is a subtle balance of small fruits, spices and floral notes. Seductive for its class and aromatic intensity, it is completed by tasty and well-expressed tannins in a deep and refined style. It is a wine of extraordinary richness and elegance which reaches its peak within the first twenty years, retaining its characteristics for many years afterwards.
