Drinking Window 2028 - 2040
The 2021 Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito has an intense bouquet of crushed raspberries and plums, ashen stone, grilled herbs and ground cloves. It's velvety in feel with ripe red and black fruits, riveting acidity and violet inner florals. It leaves a web of sweet, subtle fine-grained tannins, as hints of tart blackberry add chewy depth through the long and dramatic finale. Despite its power, the 2021 is remarkably fresh.

The 2021 Taurasis from Quintodecimo are glorious. The vintage’s combination of ripe fruit and structure plays directly into Luigi Moio’s polished, Bordeaux-influenced approach, yielding wines of both power and grace. The 2020 Riserva Grand Cru Luigi Moio is fleshier and more fruit-driven, with sweeter tannins, but it retains excellent balance. Quintodecimo did not produce Taurasi from the difficult 2023 season. Instead, all of the estate’s Aglianico was directed into Terra d’Eclano. The resulting wine lacks the power of Taurasi but rises well above the usual expectations for this bottling. The 2025 whites are also particularly balanced, with excellent acidity. It appears to have been an unusually even growing season, although the reds will provide a fuller picture of the vintage.

Tom's Tasting Note:
Deep ruby red core, vibrant red edges. The pronounced nose is plump and ripe, with juicy black cherry, plum, currants, licorice and star anise spices, some graphite and stone mineral notes.  The palate is med+ to full bodied, with ripe, youthful high levels of well integrated tannins showing some nice polish at this age. The acidity is there at the core providing freshness and energy to the flavors. The flavor intensity is packed, layered and intense, unfurling into a long, cascading, fresh and intense finish.

The Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito is a one-hectare cru from Aglianico, planted in 2004 on the southern side of the Quindecimo estate. The soil, originating from fallen ash and pumice, is volcanic in nature, non-calcareous, well-drained, deep and with a coarse texture, conditions which favor a high availability of oxygen for the roots. the vineyard, at 440 meters above sea level with a slope of 15%, has a planting density of 5000 vines per hectare and is cultivated using counter-espalier methods with spurred cordon pruning. Vigna Grande Cerzito involves for its power and elegance, with its refined aromas of cherry, plum and chocolate and its fleshy and delicate sip. Very long-lived, it becomes even more refined and elegant as the years pass, completing itself with very fresh notes of mint, eucalyptus and incense.
