Matured in 25% new oak, the 2023 Chardonnay Haakon Lenai Vineyard has inviting scents of peach, apricot, honey, hazelnuts and fresh bread. The medium-bodied palate has a silky texture and concentrated, honey-nut flavors. It’s balanced by rounded, juicy acidity and has a long, savory finish.
My Tasting Note
Star bright straw colored.  The med+ nose opens up nicely with air to fresh and crisp lemon, apple, and pear, salinity, subtle nuances of toasty oak point to deft oak usage and integration. The palate is med bodied, fresh with racy acidity, good weight and flavor density, the finish is sneaky, long and elegant.  You want to go back again and again to refresh the palate!

The Vineyard: Haakon Lenai Vineyard is a 35 acre property located in the Dundee Hills. This Vineyard was originally planted by Jon Jennison and was called Thistle Vineyard. Cody and Marque acquired the vineyard in 2019 and have since renamed the site after their children’s middle names: Haakon/Lenai.
Winemaking:
Purple Hands is a low intervention, purity-driven winery. Our Haakon/Lenai Vineyard Chardonnay is barrel fermented, and aged on the lees for 10 months. It goes through full malolactic fermentaion. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered to retain the honesty of the vineyard and the vintage.
