The Domaine Nicolas Jay L`Ensemble Pinot Noir 2023 is a testament to the rich terroir of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. This region is renowned for its ideal climate and diverse soils that contribute to the complexity and elegance of the wines produced here. The winemaking philosophy at Domaine Nicolas Jay focuses on minimal intervention to allow the natural expression of the vineyard to shine through. Tasting notes reveal a harmonious blend of red fruit flavors, subtle earthiness, and a hint of spice, making it a delightful experience for the palate.
Composition: 100% Pinot Noir. Grown on vines aged between 15-25 years, planted in volcanic and sedimentary soils.
Winemaking: Fermented using indigenous yeasts, with gentle handling to preserve the purity of fruit.
Aging: Aged in French oak barrels, with 20% new oak, for 12 months to enhance complexity and texture.
Owen Bargreen (93): The 2022 Nicolas-Jay ‘L’Ensemble’ Pinot Noir is an outstanding wine from this slightly cooler vintage. Sourced from a range of sites in the Willamette Valley AVA, this offers red currants alongside menthol, stony minerals and shades of guava puree. The beautiful tension exudes class throughout the drinking experience. Enjoy now and over the next ten years to come.
Wine Enthusiast (93): This multi-AVA blend's aromas of blackcap raspberries and sweet/spicy peony flowers are a wondrous perfume accented by notes of rich Indonesian coffee and wet clover. Its bittersweet dark chocolate, lemon and smoked black tea flavors encircle a ball of black-and-blueberries. Silky tannins, bright acidity and a brisk mouthfeel.
