Our Take

This is the first vintage released under Guillaume Lafon’s own name, but it is a seamless continuation of the project his father, the legendary Dominique Lafon, started in 2008. Guillaume has not tried to reinvent the wines. Instead, he continues the family’s focus on purity, precision and allowing the vineyard—not the oak or lees—to lead the way.

The 2024 Meursault comes from purchased fruit grown in the southern portion of the appellation, close to the village, with only five barrels made. It has the breadth and classic hazelnut richness we expect from Meursault, but the Lafon touch keeps everything lifted and energetic. Baked apple, pear, lemon peel and subtle pastry notes fill out the creamy middle, while bright acidity and chalky minerality provide balance and drive the long finish.

This is not a heavy or overly buttery style of Meursault. It offers the texture and generosity of the village, but with the freshness, tension and understated oak that define the Lafon wines. For those who love the wines of Domaine des Comtes Lafon—or simply want to follow one of Burgundy’s most exciting generational transitions—this is the perfect place to begin.
