The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Doccio a Matteo is a brooding, virile wine. The darker side of Sangiovese comes through in this somber, imposing Riserva. Black cherry, plum, leather, graphite, chocolate and cloves stain the palate. There's tremendous substance here. This explosive Riserva cries for the dinner table. It's another superb effort from Caparsa. - By Antonio Galloni on July 2025
Importer: Hand-selected fruit from the Doccio a Matteo vineyard. The wine is dark red in color. The aroma is reminiscent of dark fruit and violets. Fine but dense tannins with a very long persistence finish. A wine of great longevity, on average it can mature over 15 years.
Grapes: 97% Sangiovese, 3% Colorino
