The 2023 Bianco Milleuve is spicy in the glass, mixing candied lime and rosemary with crushed green apples. It opens with a pleasant inner sweetness and soft textures that host a core of ripe orchard fruits. The 2023 cleans up well, remaining crisp and long, while leaving a tropical citrus tinge. Borgo del Tiglio makes the Bianco Milleuve with fruit from Friuli and vineyards in Slovenia. - By Eric Guido, October 2025

Milleuve is essentially the “second wine” of Borgo del Tiglio, made from Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Renano, Malvasia and Chardonnay grown in the estate's Collio vineyards. Each vineyard and variety is vinified separately, and after Nicola Manferrari makes the selections for his top bottlings, portions of those same high-quality lots are blended to create Milleuve. The grapes receive the same meticulous farming, low yields, careful selection and small-barrel fermentation as the estate's more expensive wines, making this a pretty remarkable introduction to Borgo del Tiglio.

Our Take: Bright straw-yellow in color, the nose is medium-plus in intensity, fresh and wonderfully aromatic, with pear, white peach, citrus and white flowers joined by subtle herbs and a touch of tropical fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, supple and gently rounded from the barrel fermentation, but balanced by medium-plus acidity that keeps it crisp and energetic. The flavors have good intensity, with fresh orchard and citrus fruit complemented by floral, herbal and subtle mineral notes. The finish is medium-plus to long, fresh and lively. This is a terrific introduction to the Borgo del Tiglio style—far more serious than its price suggests, but made to be enjoyed younger and more easily than the estate's single-vineyard wines.

  • Varieties: A blend of Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Renano, Malvasia and Chardonnay
  • Appellation: Venezia Giulia IGT
  • Vineyards: Drawn from Borgo del Tiglio's estate vineyards in Collio, with individual parcels and varieties vinified separately
  • Soils: Classic Ponca/Flysch, composed primarily of marl and sandstone
  • Farming: Low yields and rigorous selection of fruit in the vineyard
  • Harvest: Hand harvested into small, lightly filled crates to protect the grapes
  • Winemaking: Gentle pressing followed by fermentation of the individual lots in small wooden barrels
  • Élevage: Individual lots spend varying amounts of time in small French oak caratelli before the final Milleuve blend is assembled
  • Alcohol: 13.5%
  • Aging Potential: Surprisingly good for an entry-level wine; the estate/importer notes that Milleuve gains aromatic complexity with bottle age and can remain vibrant for 7–8 years
