Azelia Barolo Bricco Fiasco 2021
Azelia Barolo Bricco Fiasco 2021
Created in 1978, Bricco Fiasco was one of the first wines in the entire Barolo area to be identified as a cru/single vineyard bottling. The vines in Bricco Fiasco are now 85 years old. Aged in large casks for 24 months.

From vines planted in the 1930s, this Bricco Fiasco bottling was first produced in 1978, and in 2021, the family started experimenting with fermentation in wood. Fifth-generation Lorenzo Scavino explains that this has given greater colour stability as well as richer, more complex aromas. A spicy, balsamic introduction of mint and pepper makes way for lifted fragrances of rose and citrus. Lip smacking red summer berries are swathed in sandy tannins. This is spunky and well-structured. A mineral tanginess adds dimension, as does the blood orange finale.

Drinking Window 2026 - 2033
The 2021 Barolo Bricco Fiasco is a super-classic wine from this Castiglione Falleto site. Bright acids and veins of tannin drive through a core of red-toned fruit. White pepper, mint, slate and orange peel all race across the palate. The 2021 Bricco Fiasco is an archetype of excellence. It is one of the finest wines I have tasted here in some time. - By Antonio Galloni on January 2025
