The Alh Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville 2022, made by Paul's daughter, Agustina Hobbs, is an impressive first vintage for this label.  90% Cabernet, 7% Merlot, it is elegant and well-crafted.  It is the bright acidity that caught our palates and makes this wine stand out.  This is a great entry price point for a Napa wine from one of the best!

This is the inaugural release of a brand-new wine from Agustina Hobbs, daughter of legendary winemaker Paul Hobbs.   The ALH Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the distinctive cool-climate character of Coombsville within Napa Valley. This 2022 vintage blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 7% Merlot, delivering refined structure and layered depth. Elegant, expressive, and impeccably crafted, it reflects the meticulous winemaking and terroir focus that define this celebrated Napa producer.

In the glass, the 2022 ALH Cabernet presents ripe red fruit layered with baking spices, accompanied by bursts of mulberry and fresh raspberry, all framed by exceptionally fine tannins and bright acidity. It opens in the glass, gaining volume and generosity, revealing classic Coombsville savory notes of sagebrush and thyme, intertwined with purple florals. The vibrant acidity makes it both highly food-friendly and effortlessly drinkable, while its structure ensures it will age gracefully for a decade or more. The fruit comes from select blocks in the Nathan Coombs estate in Coombsville and is made similarly to the Paul Hobbs wines, with native yeast fermentation in tank and aging up to 18 months in one-third new French oak.
