Our Tasting Note:
Medium-minus gold color. Med+ nose, very floral of iris and jasmine, waxy notes of yellow plum and spring peach and nectarines. Texturally beautiful, medium bodied, medium and well integrated, gentle but perceptible acidity, med+ flavor intensity, a slightly waxy edge and very fine tannin you only really notice in the long, very pretty and delectable finish.
*This wine DOES NOT SEE any skin maceration. The very subtle tannins apparently come from the flint in the soils of the Thompson vineyard.
Winery: In 2023 we made our sixth vintage from Thompson Vineyard in Los Alamos ~ continuing with the divine own-rooted vines that have represented our sole Blanc since 2018. We chose again to harvest on the earlier side, to capture the jasmine and bitter almond paradigm that can lift this variety into the sublime. Gently whole-cluster pressed to tank, settling for one sleep, before being racked to a combination of neutral barrique and stainless steel barrels for fermentation. The wine remained on gross lees for an 11 month élevage, to increase both complexity and bring the minerality jasmine-bound.
