**** Star rating
The grape supplier is not an organic source, but very meticulous. Millerand grapes every year. Pure clean purple. Tightly wound, crisp dark and juicy fruit, just a slight reduction at the back, some spice as well from the whole bunches, persistent and with a certain lightness of touch while retaining 1er Cru intensity. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Oct 2025.
Les Damodes is one of the prominent 1er crus of Nuits Saint Georges. Situated at the border of Vosne Romanée and diagonally adjacent to Vosne Romanée 1er cru les Malconsorts.
· Vine Age: Planted in the 1990s
· Terroir: Far northwest corner of the Nuits appellation, bordering Vosne and diagonally adjacent to les Malconsorts, mid-slope, hard limestone bedrock.
· Viticulture (négoce): Sustainable, old vines with lots of millerandage.
· Vinification: 100% whole-cluster since 2014, ambient yeast fermentation in wooden vats with a pied de cuve, daily pump-overs with buckets, limited foot punch-downs at the end of cuvasion. Fermentation finished in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation during the cuvaison or immediately after pressing. Aged for 10-12 months in used barrels, blended and aged with the fine lees in stainless steel tanks for an additional 5-7 months. No fining, no filtration, minimal SO2 addition at harvest (15-20 ppm), then only if needed during aging and before bottling.
