Drinking Window 2025 - 2031
The NV Tradition Rosé, all 2021 in this release, is pure and nuanced, with impeccable balance and tons of class. Cranberry, white pepper, mint, crushed rocks and dried flowers all build nicely. This is beautifully done. The Tradition Rosé is blend of 95% Pinot Noir and 5% Chardonnay. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. - By Antonio Galloni on January 2025
Our Tasting Note
Over the last 5 vintages I think this is the one I prefer between the 2 traditions. It is so consistent over the last 3 vintages. Medium mousse thickness. The color is a med+ pink and a tinge of orange-copper. The nose is a deep med+, with fresh red cherry and pomegranate, ginger spice and saline (from the slight oxidation introduced), yeasty and leesy notes of biscuits and bread dough, plus some savory spices from the partial whole cluster Pinot Noir. Medium bubble intensity on the palate, medium/med+ body and acidity, pronounce flavor intensity, with very good length that sails on for well over a minute.
Varietals: 95% Pinot Noir, 5% Chardonnay (of which about 7% still Pinot Noir)
Vinification The grapes were pressed using a traditional Champagne cycle and press cut. The vineyards were fermented separately in barrel with native yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation, and no sulfur added. In the late spring, the wines were blended and tirage bottled.
Aging: After 28 months on lees, the bottles were riddled and disgorged with 6 g/L dosage. Pressure: 5.5 bar
Vineyards The Cruse Tradition Rose is a sourced from several sites including Rorick Heritage Vineyard high in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Alder Springs from Mendocino County, Keefer Ranch in Sonoma, and a small amount of wine for Linda Vista in Napa.
