The 2023 Pinot Noir Estate San Andreas Fault is complex and dynamic in the glass. Wild cherry and strawberry fruit lend notable freshness as this mid-weight, understated Pinot gradually opens with a bit of coaxing. The 2023 possesses a lovely inner perfume to match its gracious, super-refined personality.
This is a very pretty set of wines from Jasmine Hirsch and Winemaker Michael Cruse. The 2023 Pinots are delicate, mid-weight wines that are going to need a bit of time to unwind. The Pinots reflect the energy and structure of a cold, late-ripening year. I saw the 2023s start to open nicely over the time I followed them, but these are wines that demand cellaring. As is the custom today, Cruse extracts these wines a bit more than his predecessors and works with fully destemmed fruit, choices that work so well in balancing the natural maritime/savory intensity of this site. The 2024 Chardonnay and Rosé are also standouts. - Galloni January 2026
