From 27-year-old vines, the 2022 Chardonnay Dundee Reserve is a bright silver straw hue and has a light reductive note, as well as notes of fresh alpine herbs, citrus pith, quince, green apple, and wet stone. Medium-bodied, it is refreshing and long on the palate, with a chalky texture, clean lift, and a long, even finish. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. Reviewed By Audrey Frick

Our Take: Bright and expressive, this Oregon Chardonnay offers fresh citrus and lemon-oil aromatics, some apple sneaks in too, with hints of wet stone and herbs. The palate is lively and zesty, featuring tangy citrus and apple a touch of brioche and crème brûlée richness from lees aging, framed by crisp acidity and a clean, mineral finish.

The Vineyard: I have been working with fruit from the Dundee Hills AVA for 25 years. Each vintage provides me a great lens into each of the blocks from our wonderful Vineyards in this special AVA. In 2021, we created the Dundee Reserve program - a program that allows us to call out special blocks that stand out each vintage. This Chardonnay is coming from block 13 & 14 at Haakon/Lenai Vyd, at 500 feet in elevation with 95 & 76 clones. It is aged in stainless steel to showcase the purity of fruit from these special blocks.

Winemaking: Purple Hands is a low intervention, purity-driven winery. Our Dundee Reserve Chardonnay is stainless steel and concrete fermented, and aged on the lees for 10 months. It goes through full malolactic fermentaion. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered to retain the honesty of the vineyard and the vintage.
