Our Take

Gragnano is Naples’ answer to sparkling red wine, and Ottouve captures everything that makes the style so irresistible. The 2025 is vividly aromatic, offering wild strawberry, tart cherry, raspberry and pomegranate alongside violets, rose petals and a subtly earthy, herbal undertone.

The palate is lighthearted but not simple. Fine, energetic bubbles lift the juicy red fruit, while brisk acidity and delicate tannins keep its gentle sweetness firmly in check. A faintly chalky, bittersweet finish makes each sip feel cleansing rather than sugary.

Serve it properly chilled and resist overthinking it. This is joyful, highly versatile wine built for pizza, salumi and crowded tables—but the unusual eight-grape blend, regional character and savory complexity give it considerably more substance than its playful personality initially suggests. It may be the most convincing argument that serious wine can also be genuinely fun.
