The 2021 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes embodies the elegance and power characteristic of this esteemed vineyard. Known for its great weight and vitality, this vintage stands out with notes of violet, red cherry, and cranberry. The oldest vines, dating back to around 1900, contribute to its distinguished profile, making it head and shoulders above the traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape offerings.
Composition: Predominantly Grenache from century-old vines, nurtured in the unique terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Winemaking: Traditional fermentation with careful attention to detail to preserve the grape's natural flavors. Aging: Aged in a combination of oak barrels and vats to enhance complexity and depth.
Wine Critic Reviews
Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (95): Black cherries, black raspberries, and a striking floral note the nose. But with this wine, it is the silky, sensuous, supple-textured palate that steals the show. The fruit-filled, polished finish, with its wealth of ripe, red fruits makes this one of the wines of the vintage. The wine is made from 100% old vine Grenache. Drink from 2024-2035.
