The 2020 Taurasi Vigna Quintodecimo wafts up with a captivating bouquet as lavender pastille, sweet smoke and Christmas spice give way to sugar-dusted blackberries. Silken textures sweep across the palate, lifted by cooling acidity, as ripe wild berry fruit swirls beneath an air of sage and violets. This wine remains elegant to the very end, leaving perfectly rounded tannins and a slight citrus tinge. It tapers off structured yet fresh, with nuances of black currant that linger. Pure seduction. - By Eric Guido on September 2025

The new-release reds from Quintodecimo hail from two very warm vintages (2020 and 2022), but they’re all attractive wines. The two 2020 Taurasis possess forward, open-knit personalities married to depths of fruit and sweet tannins. I don’t expect them to be as long-lived as the best years, but they will overdeliver through the next decade or more. The 2022 Aglianico Terra d'Eclano, is a pure pleasure to taste, with the variety’s inherent tannic clout providing plenty of balance. Though the 2024 whites are currently quite backward, they are beautifully balanced; these wines typically age quite well, and I don’t expect the 2024s to be any different.

The Taurasi Vigna Quintodecimo is a cru of two hectares of Aglianico, obtained from the vineyard of the same name, planted in 2001 on the north-west side of the estate. the soil is made up of expandable clay rocks, very rich in limestone. the vineyard, at 420 meters above sea level with a 25% slope and north/west exposure, is cultivated in counter-espalier with spurred cordon pruning and has a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. Vigna Quintodecimo is a subtle balance of small fruits, spices and floral notes. Seductive for its class and aromatic intensity, it is completed by tasty and well-expressed tannins in a deep and refined style. It is a wine of extraordinary richness and elegance which reaches its peak within the first twenty years, retaining its characteristics for many years afterwards.
