Our Tasting Note: Med+ ruby, deeper, tighter gradation. Pronounced nose, intensely perfumed nose, cherry, raspberry, violet florals, subtle loamy tones, subtle and fines spices and toast are perfectly integrated. Medium body, medium grain fine and silky tannins, the palate is dense, layered, and very persistent with fine elegance. A very long, layered, and complex finish. Outstanding!  Drink now, better in 3-5 years, can go 10-12 easy.

Vineyard: .37 hectares - The Violettes vineyard is bordered on 2 sides by Grand Cru parcels — the Clos de Vougeot to the north and the Echezeaux to the west. The wine tastes more like a Premier Cru than a simple village-level wine. Only the road and a perimeter wall stand between this plot and the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru and Grand Echezeaux around the corner a stone’s throw away.
Planted in: 1945 and 1946
Maturation: 18 months in new oak barrels for 25%, the rest in barrels having contained one or two wines. The wine is racked once using a hand bellows upon completion of secondary fermentation. When mature, barrels containing the same variety of wine are blended in a single vat using a racking process. We bottle the wine ourselves at the vineyard, without it being clarified or filtered in any way.
The wine’s characteristics: This wine definitely contains something of its neighbor, the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru. A pedigree wine with unparalleled depth and a velvety smoothness. Its opulence and aromatic complexity are abundantly clear: this wine really is in a class of its own.
