Made with 100% Sangiovese, the Tenuta di Carleone 2020 Uno (in an elegant bottle with a white wax capsule) shows a spicy side with macerated aromas of cherry skin and dried fruit. Long skin contact and partial whole cluster are key to winemaking. Like the other wines in this portfolio, Uno (the "one" refers to the singularity of Sangiovese) is a wine of special character. Firm tannins are followed by a touch of bitter fruit. Production is 21,500 bottles, and fruit represents a selection from Radda in Chianti only.

Drinking Window 2025 – 2035
The 2020 Uno (Sangiovese) is elegant, delicate and nuanced. Crushed flowers, sweet red-toned fruit, spice, mint and orange peel are all beautifully delineated in this understated, classy Sangiovese. The 2020 is exquisite. It shows the smaller-scaled size of the year vis-à-vis the 2021. Fine-grained tannins round things out in style. This is a lovely choice for drinking now and over the near to medium term. - By Antonio Galloni, June 2024

Sean O’Callaghan makes some of the most distinctive wines in all of Chianti Classico, and Italy, for that matter. O’Callaghan is among the growers who are challenging long-established norms of what Chianti Classico (the wine) is and what it can be through the use of stems, alternative aging vessels and an overall approach that favors freshness more than size. These new releases are compelling.
