92-94pts Vinous
Drinking Window 2027 - 2045
The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru was taken from tank after 11 months in barrel with one-third new oak. This has impressive presence on the nose with lemon curd, hazelnut and crushed stone notes. The palate is lively on the entry with a keen thread of acidity that maintains tension throughout. Nicely focused, this feels reassuringly elegant on the finish with impressive persistence. As good as the 2023, possibly better. - By Neal Martin, January 2026
Planted in 1972; average vine age of 40 years old. Located immediately north of Chassagne-Montrachet village on the middle slopes of the Cote d'Or. Gravelly, red, shallow soil. Rich in iron. Often the most energetic of the 1er Cru, the Vergers old vines give a nervy and detailed wine that is a step up in structure from the more forward Clos St Jean. 11 months in new and used barrels (1/3 new oak, 1/3 2 years, 1/3 3 years).
