The NV (2020) Les Vignes de Bisseuil is laced with hints of white orchard fruit, mint, white pepper, chalk, dried herbs and dried citrus peel. Airy and weightless in feel, this opens nicely with a bit of aeration. The style is one that favors tension and energy more than anything else. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 2025.

Egly-Ouriet has been at the top of the pack for many years now. That’s no surprise. What impressed me most this year was the consistency of the wines across the range, given that the base vintages for many of the current releases presented considerable challenges. The approach here remains rooted in low-intervention farming, extended time on the lees and minimal dosage. Egly fans will find a lot to like.
