Pale, transparent ruby, silver reflections. Clean and clear aromas of clove, with meaty notes and then redcurrant. On the palate, well-integrated tannins and a pleasant bitterness supporting the fruit. Precise and juicy with a long finish.

Drinking Window 2025 - 2033
The 2023 Rosso di Valtellina is a terrific introduction to this range. Aromatic, pliant and supple, the 2023 is inviting right out of the gate. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, chalk and flowers all grace this silky, mid-weight offering from Ar.Pe.Pe. - By Antonio Galloni on February 2026

Ar.Pe.Pe. remains a reference point in Valtellina. These sturdy, classically built wines have a lot to offer, especially for readers who appreciate a minimalist aesthetic in reds that exalt vintage and site characteristics over forward fruit. There’s plenty to explore here.

  • 100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo)
  • 50-100-year-old vines
  • Primarily sourced from lower slopes of Sassella and Grumello vineyards at 350-400 meters
  • South/east exposure. 110-day maceration on the skins
  • Aged 6-12 months in large 50HL neutral casks
The Rosso di Valtellina D.O.C. is made only with nebbiolo grapes (known here as Chiavennasca as you might recall from our amazing Rainaldi offer). This is a wine that you can drink young and is for more serious every day sipping. The grapes come from the Valtellina municipalities of Sondrio and Montagna. Maceration is in large, 50HL neutral Slavonia oak barrels.  It is then aged no longer than 1 year in the same, huge, neutral oak barrels and cement vats, and a few months in bottle.
