Mourvèdre, the majority grape variety in this blend, comes into its own here like no place else, providing solidity, structure and excellent cellar-ageing potential. It is complemented by the deep vinosity of Grenache and the softness of Cinsault. These three grape varieties, grown on the hillsides and in the valley, produce a complex, beautifully textured rosé.
The 90 hectares of vineyards are split between the AOC’s eight communes and planted on marl and limestone soils that are particularly well suited to Mourvèdre. They are composed of two main climates. The grapes grown in the valley offer fresh, crunchy juice whereas those grown at higher altitudes on the terraced hillsides produce wines with more body and structure.
50% Mourvedre
30% Cinsault
20% Grenache
Tasting Note: "The wine reveals a beautiful peach hue reminiscent of rose gold. The nose is enveloping with aromas of candied citrus evolving towards lemon verbena leaves. On the palate the wine is clean and reveals notes of red fruits-strawberries and raspberries. The midpalate is tight fresh and very harmonious. The wine is delicious right up to the finely balanced finish perfumed with a hint of pomelo.."

The 2024 Rosé Château Romassan is a wine of supreme textural finesse and elegance. Beautifully weighted, broad and nearly opulent, yet in no way heavy, the 2024 drapes a blanket of floral-inflected orchard fruit across the tongue, coating every corner of the mouth through the long, focused finish. Rosewater, orange confit and a tickle of sea salt last well after the wine has exited the stage. This is such an intentional Rosé made with the highest level of craftsmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to age this Bandol for a few years to allow even further complexity to develop. Bravo. - By Billy Norris on May 2025
