The NV (2023) Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Nature de Craie is 100% Chardonnay, all 2023 vintage. Bright and savory, the shows an intriguing facet of Chardonnay from 30- to 60-year-old vines in Vertus and Voipreux, both in the Côte des Blancs. The Nature de Craie is subtle but gorgeous, an understated Champagne for those who appreciate nuance over power. No dosage. Disgorged: April 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year.

It’s always a pleasure to taste through the Laherte Champagnes, as they express so much site, variety and vintage character. The finest wines in this lineup really have the ability to transport the taster. The top selections are aged in barrel. Although malolactic fermentation is blocked wholly or partially in almost all the wines, Laherte does stir the lees to build texture. Dosage is on the low side. For readers who want to explore the cutting edge of grower Champagne, I can think of few estates that match Laherte for the breadth and quality of the wines.
I was quite taken by this wine's textures and elegance and it was my first spin with it. Delicately elegant, fresh, good toast and biscuit, but also a lot of mineral and chalk, all citrus fruit in nature this was really, really pretty.
