The Butcher Zweigelt is a superb example of Austrian red wine: approachable yet structured, fruit-driven with savory depth. Its restrained style, buoyed by balanced acidity and fine tannins, makes it versatile—perfect for grilling, pork dishes, charcuterie, or a casual evening glass. 12 months in neutral barrique enhance aromas of cherry, dark berries, herbs, spice, and tobacco. This wine comes from Weingut Hans Johann Schwarz, located in Burgenland, Austria, specifically the Leithaberg and Neusiedl regions—areas known for red wine excellence. Schwarz, originally a master butcher, turned vintner after encouragement from winemaker Alois Kracher, and released the first vintage in 1999 with the help of industry luminaries like Manfred Krankl. His son Michael took over winemaking operations in 2017, bringing international winemaking experience to the estate.
