YACOUBIAN HOBBS SARPINA ARENI 2022
YACOUBIAN HOBBS SARPINA ARENI 2022
Selected as the finest Areni from our high elevation vineyard in Vayots Dzor, this wine exemplifies the future of Yacoubian-Hobbs wines.
Aged in French oak, and produced in small quantity, ‘Sarpina’ is named for the posts used to train vines as is recorded in Armenian agricultural history books. With the name ‘Sarpina’ we honor Armenia’s rich, ancient wine history.
Crafted from carefully selected parcels in the Rind vineyard, located at over 1,300 meters elevation, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for 7 months in French oak barrels, preserving freshness while adding depth and structure.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby-red hue with an expressive bouquet of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, raspberry preserves, and dried red fruits, layered with notes of forest floor, tobacco leaf, dark cacao, vanilla, and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and beautifully integrated oak. Notes of blackcurrant, plum, chocolate, and mineral tension carry through to a long, refined finish.
This is one of the most compelling modern expressions of Areni Noir—a wine that bridges Armenia’s 6,000-year winemaking history with world-class contemporary craftsmanship.

95 pts The Tasting Panel Magazine
“Mineral-rich soils are reflected in finely delineated tannins and a seamless, steely mouthfeel. Plump blue fruit amps the wine’s energy and verve, while wild dried herbs bring added texture. Ultimately, its juicy, fruity persona is what is most desirable.” - Meridith May, Tasting Panel Magazine
