Trediberri Dogliani 2024
Trediberri Dogliani 2024
90pts Vinous (2023 score, 2024 NYR)
The 2023 Dogliani is quite the powerhouse. Inky dark fruit, licorice, chocolate and cloves stain the palate. There's not much subtlety here, that is for sure. I would give this a healthy decant as it's showing some reduction at this stage. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2031

Nicola Oberto and Stefania Drocco exude all the enthusiasm and passion of the younger generation in Piedmont. That comes through in wines that are increasingly pedigreed. Two thousand twenty-one was not without its challenges here. Frost wiped out 50% of the production in Rocche dell’Annunziata. As for the wines, they are positively stellar. The Nebbiolo harvest took place from October 6 to 21, on the later side for the year. Readers who have not discovered these wines owe it to themselves to do so. Not only are the wines brilliant, they also remain very fairly priced.
WINEMAKING
Alcoholic fermentation happens only in concrete and lasts around 10 days. Then malolactic takes place in concrete and/or stainless steel and cold stabilization happens outdoor or in conditioned steel tanks. After stabilization, the wine ages for some months in concrete, steel and plastic, before being bottled, usually in April-May of the year after the harvest.
DESCRIPTION
This is our idea of Dolcetto, with the goal to exalt the “vinousity” of this great classic piedmontese grape variety. It is a funny wine, non-extremely complex in the mid-palate, slightly tannic and with a lingering, spicy and refreshing finish. Perfect to pair with a saffron risotto, pad thai, chicken tikka masala, Mortadella and Squacquerone.
