This wine is made for seafood and sunshine. ☀️

Along the Italian Riviera, vineyards are tucked into pockets of terroir just inland from the coast, while others cling dramatically to the cliffs above the Mediterranean. Today's wine comes from just inland of the sea, yet it tastes as if it were grown on those sun-drenched cliffs, bathed in Mediterranean sea spray. We first discovered this wine a few years ago, and after revisiting it with one of our importers a couple of weeks ago, we knew we wanted to keep it in steady rotation. With the current weather we are having, this feels like the perfect bottle to share with our audience. It captures exactly what we crave in hot weather: freshness, energy, and a natural affinity for the lighter foods of summer. This is always one of the most exciting Italian white wines we taste each year, and it has us genuinely looking forward to summer!

Our Tasting Note
Straw edges and a medium lemon yellow core. Gorgeous as usual, the nose jumps from the glass with ripe mixed citrus (orange, mandarin, pamplemousse), juicy white orchard fruits (apple, pear), with fresh salinity minerality, subtle herbs, and floral blossom. Med/med+ body and acidity, the palate is fresh, with driving, primary, and persistent flavor intensity. The fresh finish carries the fruit, saline and subtle spiciness.  Excellent, complex Vermentino at its finest!  This is one of the best examples of Vermentino that have crossed the threshold to this store!

The 2023 notched a GREAT score from Vinous for comparison to the 2024 we are offering (no 2024 score/note yet):

Drinking Window 2023 - 2028
The 2023 Fosso di Corsano (Vermentino) offers up lemon confit, graphite, sage, mint and crushed rocks. This is an especially citrus/mineral-driven style. Even so, there’s terrific mid-palate depth and resonance throughout. The long, clean finish is seriously impressive. A burst of floral overtones has the last say. - By Antonio Galloni on December 2024
