The 2014 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs is a half-and-half blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the latter from ungrafted vines that are more than 60 years old. Waxy apple skin and damp earth on the nose immediately suggest a rounded, profound wine. The palate is wonderfully salty and concentrated, packing red apple flesh and earth alongside lemon and plum into a mouthwateringly salty package. This is sleek and yet so grounded, with a totally enticing, appetizing streak of saltiness. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged March 2023.
