Our Tasting Note: Wow, from 100+ year old bush vines. An opaque core, deeply ruby vibrant edges. The nose is pronounced with Morello cherries, black raspberry, sweet spices, a subtle touch of herbs and balsamic, and touch of salinity. On the palate it is big, dense, and full bodied. Though the medium acidity is there to keep it all balanced and fresh. Med/med+ ripe tannins. This is immaculately balanced because of that freshness and very light on its feet, not heat or indication of the higher abv this wine will naturally always carry. There is so much pleasure and flavor intensity that is fresh and still mouthwatering. Long and pleasing in the finish, layered, and fresh.  Outstanding!

Wild cherry. Rosemary. Twisted old bush vines surrounding Lisa’s home are the reason for the singular character of La Signora. Half-century old parcels, biodynamic farming, adept winemaking. Saving these vines from eradication and replacement is at the heart of her work. — JM (importer Piedmont Wine Imports)

Morella is an organic and biodynamic winery that lies in Manduria, Italy just outside of Puglia and close to the sea. The warm weather and sea breezes paired with red, sandy clay soils mixed with limestone and quartz give the grapes a fresh, crisp body. This rose is 70% Negroamaro and 30% Primitivo and grown on old vines with a low yield of only 4,000 bottles. With tasting notes of rosehip and hibiscus, this wine can be paired with fried rockfish or shrimp puttanesca.
