Gismondi on Wine (91): This Red is a blend of dry farmed syrah, cabernet sauvignon, cinsault, and carignan from 20 year old vines planted at 1050 metres in elevation in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. There's a lovely combination of ripe, sun-soaked fruit and savoury complexity, with retained freshness thanks to the high elevation. Dried brambles and figs are accented by peppery spice, baked clay, leather, and gamey notes that will appeal to fans of Southern Rhône reds. An impressive, distinct wine, and an absolute steal at this price.

Gismondi on Wine (89): From vineyards in the western Bekaa valley at 1050m, this red blends 40% syrah, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 15% cinsault, 5% carignan, from dry farmed vines 15-20 years, rooted in sandy limestone over clay. All was native fermented in concrete vats before blending, and aging in the same for 2 years. Wild cherry, black raspberry, subtle anise, dried herbs, worked leather are woven throughout this savoury red, with brisk stony acidity, and fine, amply grippy tannins through a sharply bitter finish. An interesting take on a Bordeaux blend, ready for adventuresome drinkers.
