Discover the elegance of Chateau Sociando-Mallet 2020, a remarkable red wine from the esteemed Haut-Médoc region. Nestled on the picturesque Baleyron hill, the vineyard spans 77 hectares where the vines thrive on a gravel-and-clay terroir, underpinned by a rich clay-limestone subsoil. This setting, coupled with the estate's commitment to traditional farming techniques, imparts a distinct character to the wine, offering a structured and aromatic experience.
Composition: Merlot (53%), Cabernet Sauvignon (46%), Cabernet Franc (1%). The vines average 35 years of age, contributing to the wine's complexity.
Winemaking: The grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, with traditional vinification occurring in temperature-controlled cement and stainless-steel vats. This process includes pump-overs and rack-and-return, followed by a 25-day maceration.
Aging: The wine matures for 12 months in barrels, with 90% being new, enhancing its rich profile.
