Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Bussia DOCG 2021
Giacomo Fenocchio's Barolo 'Bussia' 2021 hails from the acclaimed Monforte d’Alba region, known for its powerful and deep wines. The vineyards are planted in Helvetian soils rich in marl and limestone, producing a Nebbiolo that is firmly structured, yet precise and clear even in its youth.
Composition: 100% Nebbiolo. Vines average 35 years old, planted in calcareous clay soils rich in iron.
Winemaking: Fermented with native yeasts and macerated for 40 days.
Aging: Aged 6 months in tank and 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks (35-50 hl).
Wine Critic Reviews
Vinum Wine Magazine (97): Sounds of exquisite raspberries and cherries, also berry notes and hot stone; the approach is acid-accentuated, then a lot of polish, ending in a fruit-focused finale on notes of fresh currants. One of the timelessly elegant examples of this diverse MGA.
Winemag (93): Spice and fruit are very elegant on the nose. On the palate it is tighter, fresh and tense, with fine tannins and an extension on blood orange and ferrous notes. A wine at the beginning of a long journey.
