At the southern Montagne's most celebrated address, the grand cru brut sometimes gets forgotten next to the top wines and the more accessible entry range. In truth, based here on the 2020 vintage, it's the emblematic Egly style. It's almost imperious in its balance between restrained, pure raspberry and pear Pinot fruit, gentle Chardonnay brightness, deep but unobtrusive fruit concentration and glossy fresh nut and bitter almond complexity from lees and barrel ageing. Complete, complex and effortless.
