Patricio Tapia - Descorchados (94): This pinot comes from the Talinay Vineyard, bathed by the breezes of the sea, about 12 kilometers away, and calcareous soils on the slopes of the Coastal Range. 2020 was a warm year, and that comes through in the type of fruits this shows—in its ripe and succulent red fruits. But the soil and the marine influence also have a lot to say here. Firm tannins and juicy acidity lend balance to a wine that's more about place, about the local limestone than it is about fruit, although the year may have clouded its personality a bit.

Wine Enthusiast (92): This wine shows strength and has a delicate nose of nutmeg and cinnamon. It's fresh and fruity, with flavors of oak spices, thyme and licorice adding layers to the palate. After a year of aging in barrels, the powerful presence of the place is still what’s most noticeable here—the tension of the tannins that come from the calcium carbonate, the salty sensation along with the red fruits, and the earthy and spicy details that slip in to lend complexity. This is a long and nervy wine full of fiber and juiciness.
