Our Tasting Note:
Deep pitched core, opaque, vibrant red edges. The pronounced nose is a little reductive, but also brooding with dark red fruits, smoke, char, tar, and crushed stones. Med+ to full bodied, med/med+ tannins and acidity, pronounced palate and and long savory, structured finish.  Tannins really clamp down on the close but are of high quality. Overall between the two reds, this is the more serious one: deeper, darker, richer and more structured, smokier but more like the charred wood in a campfire (Cocciapazza and Tiberio's Montepulciano both have this note too).

Grape: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Viticulture: "Le Vasche" as the label shows, takes its name from the multi-century old stone crushing vats scattered across the property, remnants of a winemaking tradition past that goes back 300 years. Vines are planted in limestone bedrock with a bluish clay marl top soil. Farming is organic.
Vinification: Hand-harvested, the grapes are then destemmed but not crushed. It ferments spontaneously in whole berries in stainless steel tanks. During maceration, constant punching down and delestage if necessary. After bottling, it ages in the bottle for about a year before being released for sale.
