Anko Malbec Flor de Cardon Los Cardones Salta 2022
Anko Malbec Flor de Cardon is crafted in the rugged and extreme landscape of Salta, Argentina, where the high altitude of 5,700 feet and intense sunshine create a powerful and structured expression of Malbec. The vineyard, Estancia Los Cardones, is named after the towering cacti that surround this high-altitude oasis, providing a unique savory and saline taste profile distinct from other regions. The cold Andean nights contribute floral and sweet spice aromatics, making this wine truly exceptional.
Composition: 100% Malbec. Vine age and soil type contribute to the wine's deep concentration and minerality.
Winemaking: The fermentation process emphasizes the natural flavors of the grapes, with careful vinification to retain the wine's distinct characteristics.
Aging: The wine is aged in a way that enhances its elegance and finesse, with time spent in oak barrels to develop its full-bodied nature.
Wine Critic Reviews
Patricio Tapia - Descorchados (92): For the Flor Malbec, they use 20-year-old vineyards growing midway up a hillside at the Cardones property in Tolombón, where the soil is poor and rich in slate stones. It was aged for nine months in oak (just 10% new). This is a red with great color and a tremendous load of fruit. The local sun is evident in the character of the fruit, which is ripe, succulent yet with very good acidity at the same time. A generous malbec to drink with baked beef empanadas.
