RP 91 The Wine Advocate
Domaine Diochon's 2023 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes reveals cool-toned notes of cherries and plums, complemented by orange rind, sweet smoke and a refreshing hint of menthol. Full-bodied and structured, it offers sandpaper-like tannins, fine-grained and compact, imparting tension. The acidity enhances the wine’s freshness, while the finish is marked by a distinct stony minerality, providing a clean and precise conclusion.

Nestled in the heart of Moulin-à-Vent, Domaine Diochon traces its roots to 1935 and has been under the stewardship of Thomas and Estelle Patrenôtre since 2007. The domaine upholds traditional methods, crafting a singular old-vine Moulin-à-Vent cuvée—a practice faithfully maintained since its inception. The five hectares of holdings are spread throughout the appellation, with vines dating back to the 1920s. The vineyards are managed sustainably, with a growing emphasis on organic practices. The grapes undergo a semi-carbonic maceration lasting one to two weeks, after which the wine is aged in foudres for six to eight months, followed by filtration and bottling.
