The 2024 Chardonnay Old Eight Cut is vividly pure in the glass, as white peach and yellow apple mix with nuances of wet stone and lime zest. It opens with a pretty inner sweetness, yet firms up quickly on the palate with a mix of saline minerals and tart orchard fruits. The finish tapers off with a tart tinge that keeps the mouth watering as hints of young kiwi fade.

These wines have long stood out for their energy and verve. Husband-and-wife team Grant Coulter and Renée Saint-Amour craft wines of early appeal without sacrificing depth. Coulter spent a decade at Beaux Frères, where he rose to the role of Head Winemaker before launching Hundred Suns in 2015. He was also one of the first winemakers to access fruit from Sequitur Vineyard, which he turned into a single-vineyard Pinot Noir that Beaux Frères continues to produce today. Because the couple depends entirely on purchased fruit, the lineup can change from year to year, but the wines are always strong.
