The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Caparsino is plush and wonderfully deep right out of the glass. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red cherry/plum fruit. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, new leather and blood orange all envelop the palate. Readers will find a Riserva of uncommon character and distinction. Cement tanks ferment the wines and large botti (oak casks larger than SUVs) age the wines into the majestic, deeply complex, and elegant, but dense and persistent character. I hate to name-drop this again but if you love Monterevtine, soulful reds like ethereally deep red Burgundy or Loire reds you will love these wines!

Importer: This wine is made from hand-picked Sangiovese grapes and is matured in oak barrels for 14 months, followed by further maturation in cement vats. The selection of Caparsa's grapes from vineyards surrounded by woods yielded results in absolute excellence in this particularly hot year.
