Tasting Note: Peach and orange rose color. Med+ nose of mandarin citrus and peel, spring peach, salinity, a touch of garrigue, very fresh. The palate is medium bodied, fresh med/med+ acidity, med+ persistence and a fresh, mouthwatering finish that is sneaky long.
Variety: Grenache 50%, Cinsault 40%, Carignan 10%
Vineyard: 50 year-old vines planted at 350 meters (1,200 feet)
Appellation: Coteaux de Languedoc
Soil: Limestone and clay
Viticulture: certified organic FR-BIO-01 and certified Biodynamic by Biodyvin
Vinification: Direct press fermentation with natural yeast and aging in stainless steel tanks, no malolactic fermentation.
Importer: The wine is a nice combo of that irresistible Mediterranean citrus that is present in top pink wines from Provence, with a little more tart red fruit. Accessible, dry, and a million miles from the banal rosé that has encroached on our wine marketplace in recent years. Larzac is a distinct place, dramatic, removed in elevation and terroir from much of the Languedoc. Even in this affordable pink wine, Julian and Delphine have captured some of the fingerprint of their landscape. Drink it with garlic shrimp, or a summer vegetable salad.
