Wine Critic Reviews
Owen Bargreen (96): The insanely good 2019 ‘Nicolas Catena Zapata’ combines Cabernet Sauvignon (42%) with Malbec (30%) and the remainder Cabernet Franc (28%). The nose shows incredible herbal tones with red bell pepper and garrigue notes alongside a great melange of black and blue fruits. The palate is soft and refined with silky tannins that frame a core of wet stone, anise, creme de cassis, and beef drippings. Complex and delicious, this easily will live on for another fifteen to twenty years.
Raffaele Vecchione - WinesCritic.com (95): Serious and well-spiced in the main matrix, alternating notes of black plums, blackberries, camphor, burnt mandarin peel, and black pepper. Full-bodied, perfectly ripe tannins of excellent extraction, and a warm and enveloping finish reminiscent of the South American climate and territory. What passion. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. Drink now.
