Chateau Lafleur Les Perrières Bordeaux Superieur Rouge 2022
Chateau Lafleur Les Perrières Bordeaux Superieur Rouge 2022
Les Perrières is a remarkable wine from a 3-hectare limestone-rich vineyard, planted with Bouchet and Merlot massale selections from Lafleur. Despite the vineyard's young age, with its oldest vines planted in 2016, it produces a wine of exceptional completeness and complexity. Aromas of cassis, eucalyptus, fine herbs, fresh cherries, and minerals highlight its limestone DNA. This wine is coiled, taut, and focused, bursting with juicy, perfumed red fruits and berries, culminating in a finish characterized by long, complex tannins laced with salt and graphite.
Composition: Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The vineyard benefits from a higher-altitude site on the plateau of Fronsac, suitable for warmer vintages. Winemaking: The wine is crafted with precision, ensuring the varietals' characteristics are well expressed.
Aging: The wine undergoes a meticulous aging process, enhancing its depth and mineral profile.
Wine Critic Reviews
Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (95): Quite floral in nature, the wine quickly moves to its black cherries, plums, black raspberries, and hint of cocoa in the nose. The palate is packed with chocolate-covered, salty cherries and plums. Due to its limestone terroir, the fruits taste as if they were blended with crushed stones, giving you lift, complexity, and length. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Franc with 50% Merlot. Drink from 2028-2040.
The Wine Palate (94): Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a gorgeous perfume of red roses, cinnamon stick, and cedar, leading to a core of ripe plums and blackberry preserves. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers surprisingly bright fruit with a lively line and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and fragrant. A wonderfully pure expression of this limestone terroir!
Falstaff (95): Deep dark ruby garnet colour with opaque core and purple reflections, delicate brightening on the rim. Delicate floral nuances, red cherries, cloves, black wild berries in the background, still a bit shy. Juicy, fine silky texture, hints of red currant and lime, integrated tannins, salty touch on the finish, vibrant minerality, shows length, a taut, fine food wine.
Robert Parker The Wine Advocate (95): When to drink: 2030 to 2055.
Jean-Marc Quarin (95): When to drink: 2032 to 2055.
