Wine Critic Reviews
Bacchus Magazine (91): Well established in Roussillon, Domaine Lafage is a family vineyard recognized for the typicity and high quality of its wines. This Nicolas cuvée made from old Grenache vines is a perfect illustration. The color is intense ruby, bright and clear, while the nose is remarkable for its intensity, revealing complex aromas evoking blackcurrant, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries, enhanced by notes of licorice, flowers, and mineral accents. Lovely racy mouth revealing a broad and velvety attack, which pleasantly restores the fruity perfumes perceived on the nose. It is a well-structured wine, with opulent flesh and richness, but not too much. The tannins are silky and the flavors persist for the greatest pleasure of the taste buds. Elegant finish of good length. Very good purchase! Decant for 20 minutes and serve at 17 °C. A delight with roasted leg of lamb, duck breast, chili con carne, veal blanquette, beef tartare, or beef bourguignon.
