This vintage gave us a great balance between structure and freshness and this balance is the main characteristic of the best vintages of this wine. The tasting there shows a very intense purple color to the eye while the nose we find strong notes of berries, plum and black cherry as well as a fresh and vinous notes. Tasting it we can appreciate a very full and intense body, a light tannin cleanses the palate and gives structure, acidity balances the alcohol. The "Papa Celso" is the ideal wine in combination with the great classics of Piedmontese cuisine and it is a Dolcetto that also knows how to face the challenge of time, being able to evolve even after many years.
Marziano Abbona’s flagship wine, Papà Celso is a single-vineyard Dolcetto that is dedicated to the memory of Celso Abbona, father of Marziano, who planted every vine in the Doriolo vineyard. The wine is exclusively produced with grapes grown on vines over 60 years old that give the wine a pleasant balance between elegance, power, and harmony. Rich and structured with aromas of red and black fruits, this is a balanced and harmonious red, fermented in steel to preserve freshness and purity. Refreshing and subtly grippy, it’s an age worthy gem and excellent partner for fresh pasta with homemade ragù, white meats, and medium-aged cheeses.
