Drinking Window 2024 - 2030
The 2022 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is racy and exuberant to the core. Inky dark fruit, black pepper, leather, incense, graphite and cured meat give this appellation-level wine plenty of punch. It's a fine example of how compelling Syrah is in 2022, even among value-priced offerings. - By Antonio Galloni on July 2024
There’s plenty to like in this range from Presqu'ile. This year, I find the estate wines to be especially fine, while those made from outside sources show more variability, something that is to be expected in such a challenging vintage. As good as the top wines can be here, I must give major kudos to the team led by longtime winemaker Dieter Cronje and consulting winemaker Jeremy Seysses for the appellation wines, all of which deliver outstanding quality and value. I would be happy to drink them any day of the week.

Our Tasting Note
Nicely pitched dark ruby color, vibrant red edges. The pronounced nose is fresh and expressive, aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and cracked pepper, layered with subtle notes of violet, olive, and sage. The palate is medium-bodied and energetic, with juicy dark fruit, savory spice, and fine-grained medium tannins carried by ample acidity. A lifted, plush and fresh finish gives this a distinctly cool-climate, Santa Barbara County feel!  Excellent value here, the typicity is dead on!
